Sudbrook Moor and Greetham were both playing in their first final while Torksey were very familiar with the event as past champions.

The three-man teams played in singles format and took on the other two clubs consecutively over morning and afternoon rounds.

Won matches earned a point with any finishing all square banking a half.

Greetham Valley were fractionally the strongest after the morning round with Torksey and Sudbrook Moor second and third respectively.

Fortified by lunch and reflection, afternoon persistence and motivation won through for Sudbrook Moor.

Superb golf from Levi Desmond brought maximum points, morning and afternoon, to his team tally.

Rob Reid added another afternoon point with his closing holes of superior ball striking.

To the delight of the huge gallery on the 17th, third string Craig Toyne holed a spectacular 50-foot putt to keep the Sudbrook Moor match alive.

Toyne's final putt on the 36th hole completed the job to secure the championship title for Sudbrook Moor with Torksey runners-up and Greetham Valley finishing third.
