Grantham Town Under 16s beat Stourbridge in the National Premier Conference League
Grantham Town Under 16s came back from a goal down to storm to a convincing win over Stourbridge in the National Premier Conference League.
The Gingerbreads started the match slowly and, after conceding an early free-kick on the right hand side, the ball was curled towards the far post and nodded over the line to give Stourbridge the lead.
After a disallowed goal for a rather dubious offside call, Town did grab the equaliser through a Will Phillips header moments later, converting a deep cross from Kye Hutchinson on 25 minutes.
Grantham were in front before half-time as a corner was whipped to the back post by Jacob Price for Ollie Harness to power in a header on his debut and give the Gingerbreads their second goal.
There was a half chance for either team as the second period got underway, but both missed the target.
However, on the hour mark, Rhys Stevens charged down an attempted clearance on the edge of the box and slotted the ball across the keeper and into the far corner to make it 3-1 to Town.
Five minutes later, a 25-yard free-kick was delightfully curled into the net by Jacob Price for 4-1 as Grantham were now in full swing.
A fifth goal followed after good build up play, with Nikolas Adamopoulos finding Henry Thomas to smash in first time from the edge of the box.
The scoring was wrapped up two minutes from time with another nice team exchange down the left.
Thomas was this time the provider after pulling the ball back for Harley Webster to crash in a low drive on the run for 6-1.
