PJ Jewellery and Collectables in Holbeach permanently closes month after armed robbery

A town jewellery shop has permanently closed following an armed robbery which caused staff to ‘no longer feel safe’.

PJ Jewellery and Collectables on West End in Holbeach closed its doors to customers for the last time on Friday, June 20.

The store, which replaced Longstaff Estate Agents about two years ago, announced the ‘unfortunate news’ to customers on a social media post.

After the shop was targeted by two armed men in May, owners stated the closure ‘wasn’t an easy decision to make’ but due to staff members ‘no longer feeling safe, decided it was the best option.

PG Jewellery and Collectables is set to continue operating at a store in Peterborough.

The Facebook post also said: “We thank every single customer who has showed us support and respect, especially recently.

“We are happily moving this business and continuing our journey to open a different store in Peterborough. These plans were already underway before any of the past events took place but due to staff deciding they no longer feel safe.”

Two men were charged in connection to the incident and are awaiting a trial in court.

The shop has been contacted for a comment.
