Horncastle’s former Barclays building be put up for auction on Mark Jenkinson site for £140,000 this month
A historic former bank building has been put up for auction after being closed for more than a year.
Horncastle’s old Barclays bank on High Street shut in October 2022 as part of a string of branch closures.
The four-storey, 3,300 square foot building will now appear on auctioneer Mark Jenkinson’s online sale on April 24 for a guide price of £140,000.
James Vandenbrook, from Mark Jenkinson, said: “This former bank is an imposing and characterful historic property, situated in the heart of Horncastle and with some well-known high street names such as Costa Coffee, Co-op Pharmacy and the Post Office nearby.
“Regularly appearing high up in the ‘best places to live’ rankings, Horncastle and the unspoilt Lincolnshire Wolds area are highly sought-after areas for residential accommodation.”
On its website, Mark Jenkinson says the property would suit a conversion to four residential apartments on the upper floor, with the possibility of an extra one on the rear of the ground floor.
“The relevant planning consent would need to be obtained, but this really attractive building could be sensitively adapted to a variety of different uses,” James added.
The auction, which includes around 100 other properties will be held on the company’s website here.
