Major £2.3 million upgrade to a water recycling centre completed at Woodhall Spa

A major £2.3 million upgrade to a water recycling centre has been completed.

Anglian Water has invested the money to safeguard the local environment and protect the community from flooding.

This work at the Woodhall Spa site is part of a larger £100 million investment across the East of England to improve water treatment facilities and better manage stormwater.

The upgrades at the Woodhall Spa site include the installation of new equipment and the construction of a stormwater tank, so the site can now hold 528,000 litres of excess rainwater.

This ensures the local system can handle heavier downpours, helping to prevent floods and reducing the risk of pollution in local rivers like the nearby River Witham.

By improving how stormwater is managed, Anglian Water is helping to protect the area’s rivers and wildlife and building resilience against the effects of climate change.

With more extreme weather events like sudden downpours becoming common, this upgrade means your community is better prepared.

Sarah Lovitt, Customer Co-ordinator for the project said: “We know how much our customers care about the local rivers and environment.

“This project in Woodhall Spa will help protect these precious resources by reducing the risk of pollution and flooding.

“But our work won’t stop here – as part of our next business plan, worth over £9bn, our proposals will see us double our environmental investment, making it our largest programme ever.”

The water company’s business plan for 2025-2030 is awaiting final sign off by the water regulator Ofwat later this year.
