New lease of life planned for Build Your Future site near Horncastle

A former youth training centre near Horncastle could be revitalised under new plans for the site.

Residents Glen Andrews and Peter Rawdon have submitted an application to East Lindsey District Council to transform the former Build Your Future school site on Louth Road, West Ashby.

The proposal aims to repurpose existing buildings, including converting the old canteen and indoor sports pitch into a new sports unit. Furthermore, various offices and classrooms would be adapted to create a vocational training unit.

Plans also include converting the reception area, storage, and office building into a "wheels to work" facility.

The workshop building, security office, moped training area, and outdoor sports area are set to be retained as part of the development.

According to the planning documents, one of the applicants lives next to the site and has a vested interest in ensuring the project’s success. The plans say the scheme aims to deliver economic benefits to the area and meet unmet demand for employment space.

"There has been significant interest from potential occupiers already, which is a clear sign that the demand for such a facility is there," the applicants stated.

"The site lends itself to the proposed uses being of no detriment to residential amenity and is close to the population centre of Horncastle minimising the need to travel and on a good standard A road."
