'Enthusiastic' youngster from Crowland wins prize 25 years ago
A three year old bookworm scooped a special prize back in 1997.
William O’ Donovan, from Crowland, won the space themed reading competition, which saw him read 12 books through the summer.
William won in the under-sevens group after being entered into the prize draw.
Michael Darling, area librarian for young people, said: “William particularly impressed us because he is so young and had great enthusiasm for reading.”
Students at Spalding’s Gleed School came to the aid of people in Hungary 25 years ago.
Two lorries were packed full of Christmas gifts, food and toiletries, donated by people and businesses from the area.
The items were taken to two refugee camps in Southern Hungary and were going to be distributed to refugees in the area.
Ted Pass, of Bourne Rotary Club, drove one of the two lorries.
