Donington's festive event encountered a festive visitor in 2012

Visitors to the Dickensian Christmas fair in Donington got a surprise visit from Santa ten years ago.

The event included crafts and trade stalls along with music, theatrical entertainment, food, fun and games.

Santa’s drop-in made the children’s day.

Ten years ago staff at Donington Co- operative helped raise money for the Olympic legacy to live on .

Staff raised £720 with lots of different activities.

A raffle raised £180 each for Young Dons Football Club, Flinders Flyers netball team, D Birds Black netball team and D Birds Red netball team.

Spokesman Amy Bristow said: “We are now looking forward to seeing how the money will help them.”
