East Lindsey District Council approves plan for 171 homes in Wragby

Plans for more than 170 new homes on the edge of a town have been approved.

East Lindsey District Council has given the go-ahead to NorthCountry Homes Ltd for 171 properties on land south of Millbrook Lane, Wragby.

First submitted in 2023, the development will feature a variety of homes including 61 two-bedroom semi-detached houses, 43 three-bedroom semi-detached houses, 53 three-bedroom detached houses, and 14 four-bedroom detached houses.

Each property will have its own parking space, with some offering electric vehicle charging points. Public transport will be available, via the existing network, on Millbrook Lane.

The project also includes open spaces designed for children and families to enjoy.

The applicant explained in its design and access statement that the housing would "range in scale and massing" and include corner dwellings alongside traditional semi-detached and detached designs.

It added: "The scheme includes 11 house type sizes. A range of semi-detached combinations are provided from these main house types, providing interest and variety to the street scene and to reflect and complement the character of existing housing in Wragby."

The proposal has faced opposition from local residents, with 14 objections submitted. One resident, Jenny Jeffery, described the village as already "overdeveloped" and struggling with limited resources.

"There are no jobs for people in Wragby. The businesses are closing down, the village will become a satellite dorma town for Lincoln; but to what cost?" she wrote.
