White Hart Hotel, on Bailgate in Lincoln, add four new en-suite bedrooms following conversion of 16th century grade-II star listed Leigh Pemberton House
A hotel in Lincoln’s historic heart has expanded its hospitality offer with new luxury rooms.
The White Hart Hotel, on Bailgate, has added four new en-suite bedrooms to its portfolio, following the conversion of the adjacent 16th century half-timbered building, Leigh Pemberton House.
The rooms are located on the first and second floors of the grade-II star listed building, which is now being operated as an annex to the main hotel.
Each room offers spectacular views of the city’s iconic Steep Hill, and comes equipped with high quality en-suite facilities — there is also the option to rent all four rooms as part of a large group or family package.
The 500 year old building has has many uses in its long history; including being used as a merchant’s house, furniture shop and silver and tinsmiths, as well as the notorious ‘Blue Boy’ Inn.
It gained its current name of Leigh Pemberton House from the former chairman of NatWest, who was also Governor of the Bank of England.
The latest additions bring the total number of bedrooms now offered at White Hart Hotel to 53, spread across the main hotel, Leigh Pemberton House, and a Georgian townhouse at No. 7 Castle Hill.

Andrew acquired the White Hart Hotel in 2022, and since then a full refurbishment of all bedrooms, dining and entertainment spaces have taken place, including the all-new Antlers Restaurant, Colonnade Cocktail Bar & Lounge.
Further enhancements are planned over the coming months including the creation of new spa treatment rooms and planning permission has also been granted for work to start on an indoor pool in the Autumn.
The hotel is located within easy walking distance of Lincoln’s many unique buildings, shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and visitor attractions, such as including the castle and cathedral.
The Lincoln Visitor Information Centre will continue to be a tenant of Leigh Pemberton House at ground floor level.
