GP Dr Gillian Jackson to set up female health clinic in Lincoln sparked by lack of support for women in county

A GP is preparing to set up a female health clinic after noticing a lack of support for women in the area.

Dr Gillian Jackson, who has more than six years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, says that after moving to Lincolnshire seven years ago she “realised there isn’t really much provision at all for women in this county”.

To combat this, she has decided to open her own clinic at Grin Orthodontics, in Lincoln, where she will provide support for menstrual cycles, menopause, contraceptives, fertility planning, endometriosis and more.

“I feel in quite a privileged position to be able to turn my own interests and hobbies into a viable business that can help people and make their lives better and more comfortable.”

Dr Jackson explained how women sometimes suffer from symptoms for long periods of time without treatment because they are embarrassed to seek help.

She added that more often than not it is a quick fix and all they needed to do was get advice.

The mum-of-two is looking forward to finally being able to fulfil her dream of running a “much-needed direct access clinic for local women”.

More information on services and health care can be found here.

It is hoped it will officially open in September.
