Lincolnshire Police arrest man on suspicion of murder after death of woman in Lincoln
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman this morning (Monday).
Police were called out in the early hours by ambulance crews, who tried to come to the aid of a 51-year-old woman in Prial Close in Lincoln.
The woman was taken to hospital and died at 11.15am today.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “At the moment, we don’t know what caused her death or the broader circumstances of the incident, but we are treating this as suspicious.
“A 60-year-old man was initially arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and has been further arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody and will be questioned by detectives.
“A Home Office post-mortem examination will be carried out in the coming days, and we will provide a further update once we have more information.
“For now, there will remain a heightened police presence at the location and surrounding area as our detectives, local neighbourhood officers, Response and staff from our Crime Scene Investigation team work to establish what has happened over the next few days.”
