Lincoln unit left empty by Boots will be filled by bowling alley, amusements and retail centre

Plans for a new bowling alley, amusements and retail centre on Lincoln High Street have been approved by the city council.

The site in question, 311-312 High Street, has laid dormant since 2019, when Boots moved out to a fresh location on the same pedestrianised street.

Since then, it has been a colourful backdrop for shoppers walking along the High Street, with a large imp mural — but that has now been replaced.

In its place is an equally colourful sign for “Gutter Ball” after an application from Crown Alderney Limited went into City of Lincoln Council earlier this year.

The application is for a three-story development, in which the ground floor will play host to three separate retail units, and upstairs units will hold popular ten pin bowling business Lane7 — which has sites all over the United Kingdom.

The site would include bowling lanes, as well as arcade games, shuffle board, pool and ping pong tables, as well as bar facilities.

These plans have now been approved, and construction of the new business is well underway, though an opening date has not yet been revealed.
