New Welton Music and Arts Festival set to take place for first time ever this July
A new five-day festival is heading to a village this summer celebrating the county’s musical and creative talents.
Welton Music and Arts Festival will offer a range of ticketed and free events including live music, comedy, artist workshops and a street food market from Wednesday, July 3 until Sunday, July 7.
Hosted by Welton-by-Lincoln Parish Council, the festival will kick off with a Gary Barlow and Erasure tribute night, before students from St Mary’s Primary School can join a circus skills workshop.
The celebrations will continue with choral and opera performances, comedy night and a range of workshops including painting, silver hammering, and a Ceilidh (a Gaelic tradition).
To round up, on the final day, there will be Sunday services at Welton Methodist Chapel and St Mary’s C of E Church, as well as a theatre performance and a street food market.
Coun Marlene Chapman, chairperson of the heritage and events committee at Welton-by-Lincoln Parish Council, said: “We’re so looking forward to the first-ever Welton Music and Arts Festival this summer, which will offer something for everyone no matter what your age or interests.
“We love our village and, over the past 100 years, it has grown from a dispersed collection of farms and cottage industries to one of Lincolnshire’s best places to live with a strong sense of local identity.
“As it grows, we want to invest in the village’s social calendar and bring our community together, and the festival provides a fantastic opportunity to do this on a new scale.
“We have an exceptional line-up featuring music, dancing, theatre and much more so come and join us in the celebrations.”
All proceeds will be reinvested in providing free activities for the students of St Mary’s Primary School and other community events.
Tickets can be purchased here or at the Parish Office Monday to Friday between 9am and 12pm.
