Anglian Water carrying out patchwork repairs to Lincoln High Street

Tarmac patchwork repairs more than a year in the making are now finally taking shape on Lincoln High Street.

Anglian Water is working to replace tarmac on the pedestrianised section of the High Street with original brick setts that were taken out in March last year.

This was due to urgent works to reduce water pressure under the surface, Anglian Water said at the time, and tarmac was used rather than bricks as the setts come from a specialist quarry and are made to order.

Some 14 months after the initial bricks were dug up, work is finally commencing to restore the path and remove the unsightly tarmac.

Signage at the site suggests work will finalise in the area on May 22, but Lincolnshire County Council has said this will be weather permitting.

An LCC spokesperson said: “We have been in close contact with Anglian Water throughout this period and our focus has always been on ensuring the area is restored properly.

“We thank people for their patience whilst these works are carried out.”
