Lincs Design Consultancy withdraws plans for 118 homes in Washingborough near Lincoln

The latest plans have been withdrawn on a Washingborough plot of land which has seen repeated applications fall through.

Lincs Design Consultancy were hoping to build 118 homes on land off Fen Lane, on the eastern edge of the village.

However, the Louth-based company have now withdrawn the scheme from consideration, around 12 months after it was submitted.

Residents say five applications have been submitted for the site in recent years, but all have failed to materialise.

Paula Wells, who lives near the site, objected to the plans, saying: “One of my main concerns still is the flood risk. We still receive an immense amount of water running down the field into our garden.

“The thought of 118 properties adjoining our property does not bear thinking about.

“The volume of traffic on this busy B-road is escalating. One entrance in and out would create immense problems.

“Most properties these days generate two vehicles – where is it all going to go?”

Washingborough resident Graham Cox also said drainage and flooding problems made the field unsuitable for housing.

“This is the fifth application for this and the associated site in ten years – as yet not one house has been built,” he wrote.

“If the site was suitable and – having paid a large sum of money for the applications – then the applicants would have built on it.”

No reason has been given on North Kesteven District Council’s planning website for the application being withdrawn.

Previous housing plans were refused by the planning committee in 2014 over concerns about how sustainable the area would be with the distance to local services.

Plans for 185 home on a slightly larger plot of land came back in 2017 and was approved.

However, despite being extended again in 2020, it never became a reality.
