Plans revealed for new three-storey care home in Lincoln
Plans have been submitted for a three-storey care home to meet the demand for elderly care.
The application would create a 59-bed facility on Cabourne Avenue in the Ermine area of Lincoln for those who need round-the-clock nursing or have dementia.
It would be built on green space with a public footpath next to the Lindum and Minster Medical Practice.
The application would also extend the practice’s car park, adding an extra 24 spaces for patients and staff on a separate parcel of land.
Glenholme Healthcare Group, who are behind the plans, say the facility would ease pressure on medical services in the area.
Planning documents say: “There is an ageing population both nationally and locally, and the need for elderly care accommodation is growing rapidly.
“This location would be suitable due to its proximity to community facilities, and short distance from Lincoln city centre.
“Considering the increasing need for elderly housing options, the introduction of this Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered 59-bed care home in Lincoln will significantly ease this pressure both for the local council and the NHS.”
Documents say that if it is no longer required as a care home in the future, the building could be converted into a hotel or a student hall of residence.
The plans include communal dining and lounge areas for residents, as well as patios and outdoor recreational spaces.
Glenholme Healthcare Group say they have written to local residents about the proposals, and haven’t received any expressions of either support or unhappiness.
The building will have roof-mounted solar panels to power it with renewable energy, and would be located close to the existing Cathedral View Court on Cabourne Court.
The plans have been submitted to City of Lincoln Council, and are currently available for the public to comment on.
