Police dealing with more than 400 dodgy Lincolnshire drivers caught on camera so far this year
More than 400 dodgy drivers are being dealt with by police after being caught on camera by the public.
Between January and March of this year, Lincolnshire Police received a total of 546 submissions to the Operation Snap portal, which allows motorists to upload dashcam and mobile phone footage of offences.
This was up from the 514 submissions received in the final quarter of 2024.
From the last three months, 261 offences have been identified and processed to the police, while 149 drivers received warnings.
No further action was taken in 136 cases.
Between January and March, 96 offences of driving without due care and attention were recorded - the highest number in a quarterly period over the past 12 months.
There were also 64 cases of failure to comply with traffic light signals, which was the lowest number recorded over the past year.
On top of this, there were 37 cases of driving without considerable care for other road users, 28 cases of driving while operating a mobile device and 16 failures to comply with white line markings.
Other offences were: failing to comply with a traffic sign (4), failing to accord with a pedestrian on a zebra crossing (2) and failing to comply with a red light at a puffin crossing (1).
So far, 37 of these offences have also been dealt with by way of an educational course, 18 by £100 and three penalty points, nine by a fixed penalty fine and eight via caution.
A further seven will be heard at court.
A total of 160 of these offences are awaiting finalisation and 22 have been cancelled.
Over the past year 2,400 submissions have been received with 1,095 processed by the police.
