Second children’s home could be approved on same residential road in Lincoln

A second children's care home could be approved on a residential road in Lincoln.

Plans to convert another shared house on Queen's Crescent into a children's home for up to three children aged between seven and 17 have been recommended for approval at City of Lincoln Council's planning committee meeting on October 2.

Despite concerns from several residents, with 22 formal objections on the council's website, the committee approved an identical development in August this year.

Committee members acknowledged the concerns raised by residents but maintained that "there was no reason to decline the application based on the evidence."

Applicant Mark Blagden of Spring Care For You Ltd has since applied to convert the adjacent dwelling into another children's care home.

The proposed use would see the three young people having full unrestricted access to the property, with the exception of the ground floor staff office and bedroom, which would be locked for security purposes.

This new application has also prompted a wave of objections from neighbours who feel "unheard".

One objector wrote: "This situation has caused me significant stress, and I have serious concerns about the impact on our community.

"It's easy to make decisions without fully understanding the situation, but listening to residents should be a priority. The community feels unheard, and we're distraught."

They claimed that repurposing the dwellings will only worsen parking problems on this already "overcrowded" street.

Another concerned resident also commented: "This application mirrors an identical one at the adjacent property which was recently passed by the Planning Committee despite many objections from residents and ward councillors mainly on the basis of anticipated increases in traffic and parking in a very congested area.

"The current application will simply exacerbate those problems as it is certain to result in a further increase in that type of issue."
