Lincolnshire councils approached to support motion to back Marie Curie’s Campaign for a Council Tax Exemption for the Terminally Ill
Councils will be approached about supporting a motion which would see terminally ill people exempt from paying council tax.
Charity Marie Curie is running a campaign for a council tax exemption for the terminally ill — and is urging councils across England to ensure that people with less than 12 months to live are exempt from paying council tax.
Over the Lincolnshire border, Newark and Sherwood District Council is set to become just the third council in the country to back the initiative — following in the footsteps of Manchester City Council and Milton Keynes City Council.
Newark and Sherwood members voted unanimously to support the Marie Curie campaign at a recent meeting — and will also write to other councils to urge them to do the same.
Do you think that terminally ill people should be exempt form paying council tax in Lincolnshire?
