Plans to turn former Lloyd’s Bank in Market Rasen into cafe
Plans have been unveiled to transform a former bank in the heart of Market Rasen into a cafe, complete with learning and office spaces.
An application has been submitted to West Lindsey District Council to convert the former Lloyd’s Bank on Marketplace.
In 2020, the branch was included in a list of 31 closures, alongside locations such as Holmfirth and Cowbridge.
The company stated that the closures were part of a store reduction program in response to the shift towards online banking.
However, Acis Group Ltd has since developed plans to renovate the ground floor, which faces onto the marketplace, into a cafe.

The remaining space on the ground floor and the first floor will be converted into learning areas and offices for staff.
“Acis Group Limited own a building delivering a community offering further along the street. However it is felt that the present setting is no longer fit for purpose and is not allowing the service to grow and be delivered to its full potential,” wrote the firm in its planning statement.
“The hopes is that the old bank can offer our client a more suitable venue, and that the service can be relocated, allowing for the original building to be sold and repurposed for another new local venture.”
Acis Group Ltd’s existing Learning Centre on Marketplace, which has been open since 2000, offers a variety of accredited and non-accredited courses for adults.
The company anticipates that over 350 people will attend its Adult Community Learning and Access HE courses each year.
“The building has been empty now for a period of time and offers the opportunity to serve the local community well,” continued the firm.
“Adjacent buildings have recently been refurbished which as greatly improved the street scene aesthetically and this setting is now starting to look a little tired, it is hoped that the purchase will see the building refurbished and brought back into use.”
