Rutland Camra Beer Festival 2024 in Oakham
A beer festival taking place in the heart of a town will include the best ales and ciders from the area - and from further afield.
The Rutland Camra Beer Festival takes place in the County Museum, Catmos Street, Oakham, from Friday, June 21 until Sunday, June 23.
The idea behind the event is to promote the availability of real ales and ciders in Rutland, a county which has two national award-winning breweries - The Grainstore Brewery in Oakham and Baker’s Dozen in Ketton.
There are also 55 pubs, hotels and clubs in Rutland that the Campaign for Real Ale’s 230 local members are keen to support.
Dave Casewell, Rutland Camra branch secretary said: “We do hope people from across the area can pop in to support our festival.
“It is very much a family event with a programme of light background music on Friday and Saturday, and a showcase for local dance groups on Sunday.
“As well as beer and cider, we will have wine, gin, and soft drinks available. The usual ‘beer festival food’ will also be available as provided by the Plough Inn from Greetham.”
Rutland Camra Beer Festival is open on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, from 11am until 8pm, and on Sunday, June 23 from midday until 6pm.
There is a £2 entrance fee for those who are not Camra members, although a £10 entry package includes this fee, refundable glass hire, and tokens to exchange for drinks.
Dave added: “By attending you will be supporting Camra, the local economy, our festival charity Loros, as well as giving yourself a good time.
“Come and sit on the straw bales and enjoy the hay carts and tractors, and the lovely environment provided by the museum courtyard. You will be sure of a warm welcome.”
