Harris Tweed and Lands’ End collaborate to create Oakham Tweed for new collection
A Rutland town is making headlines in the world of fashion after the launch of its own bespoke tweed.
Harris Tweed is famous across the world, and by law can only be handwoven in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
Yet Oakham has been bestowed the honour of its very own tweed after a collaboration between Harris Tweed and Lands’ End, the American-based outfitter which has a base in the Rutland town.
The exclusive Oakham Tweed design is at the centre of the 16-piece Lands’ End x Harris Tweed collection and, according to its creators, has been inspired by the Rutland countryside.
Its deep blue is said to evoke the calm of Rutland Water, with “soft green reflecting open fields, and earthy tones that anchor it in place”.
Aiming to put a modern twist on a classic style, the collection includes fitted jackets (£250), blazers (£300), tailored mini-skirts (£80), jumpers (£80), as well as baseball caps (£45) and canvas tote bags (£80).
The capsule collection launched on Wednesday (October 8), and is available exclusively online at landsend.co.uk
