Gregg Wallace Instagram video prompts a response from the Matt Hampson Foundation charity

A charity has commented on the allegations surrounding BBC presenter Gregg Wallace after he was pictured on Instagram wearing a t-shirt promoting the cause.

The MasterChef presenter has stepped down from his role after allegations of inappropriate sexual comments and inappropriate behaviour were made against him.

An investigation has heard from 13 people who worked with Wallace across five different shows.

At the weekend the presenter posted a video on his Instagram account in response to the allegations. In it he claimed the complaints were all made by “middle-class women of a certain age”.

Mr Wallace was wearing a Matt Hampson Foundation t-shirt while filming the clip.

The charity has responded by posting a statement on X.

It said: “We are aware of imagery in recent news coverage showing Gregg Wallace wearing a Matt Hampson Foundation shirt.

“Gregg has been a supporter of the foundation’s work with people after life-changing injury but, as an inclusive charity based on values of community and family, we would like to make clear that we do not condone the kind of behaviour and comments contained in these allegations.

“The foundation will make no further comment.”

The charity was established in 2011 after Matt suffered an accident during an England Under-21 rugby training session in 2005. He was living in Cold Overton at the time.

Matt was left paralysed from the neck down and set up the charity to help others who have suffered similar catastrophic injuries through sport.
