Ellie Kapler appointed as headteacher of Edith Weston Academy in Rutland

A new headteacher hopes she can inspire every child in her care to feel empowered and “dream big”.

Ellie Kapler joined the team at Edith Weston Academy this term.

The village primary school has about 80 pupils and was rated by Ofsted as good during the most recent inspection in 2023.

Mrs Kapler said: “It is a privilege to be entrusted with leading such a fantastic school and I am deeply committed to ensuring that our children have the best possible school experience and education.

“Edith Weston Academy has so much to offer and I’m excited to be working in a school with fantastic facilities and opportunities for our children.”

Mrs Kapler comes from a military background herself which she hopes will help her to support pupils in the same situation.

She added: “We provide invaluable support to our military families. Coming from a similar background, I understand the challenges that come with military life and can’t wait to get to know our children and families.

“Having spent lots of time in school with the staff and children recently, we have a clear vision as to how we can continue to drive up standards and enable all children to reach their full potential.

“I want every child to feel empowered and to dream big.”
