The Olive Branch, Clipsham, named in The Good Food Guide’s ‘100 Best Pubs’
A village pub is among the top 100 places to eat and drink in the UK, according to The Good Food Guide.
Following public nominations, The Olive Branch in Clipsham, on the Rutland-Lincolnshire border, was judged by foodies in terms of its food, beer and hospitality.
They were so impressed that the pub was awarded 32nd place in the new ‘100 Best Pubs 2025’, launched this year by The Good Food Guide and Timothy Taylor’s Landlord.
Top of the list is The Highland Laddie, Leeds, while Lincolnshire earns its own mention by virtue of The White Horse in Lincoln, ranked 97th in the UK.
Ben Jones, co-founder and director of The Olive Branch, said they were “absolutely delighted” by the news announced today (Wednesday), adding: “This recognition means so much to our whole team, who work hard to make every guest feel at home.
“We’re especially grateful to all the wonderful people who nominated us — their support is what keeps us going after more than 25 years at the heart of Clipsham village.”
The Olive Branch was named ‘Rutland’s Best Pub’ at the 2025 Pub and Bar Awards and received two AA Rosettes, an accolade the pub has held for more than 20 years.
Since opening its doors in 1999, The Olive Branch has been the Good Pub Guide’s ‘UK Pub of the Year’, and it held a Michelin Star for six years
It is housed in three stone cottages restored by founders Ben Jones, Sean Hope and Marcus Welford, and remains independently owned.
Local farmers, growers and producers contribute to The Olive Branch menu, which changes with the seasons.
The pub’s accommodation won ‘Best Hotel in the Midlands’ in the 2024 Good Hotel Guide.
