Catmose Primary School children draw cards to welcome residents to Bellway development in Oakham, Rutland

School children in Oakham have created designs for a card to welcome new residents to a development in the town.

The project was organised by Bellway, which is building 62 new homes at Barleywoods, off Braunston Road.

Pupils in Year 2 at Catmose Primary School drew pictures and coloured in welcome messages, with their designs used to create a printed card which will be put through the letterboxes of new residents at Barleywoods.

Kelly Jackson, head of school at Catmose Primary School, said: “The children were very excited to be asked to make welcome cards for future residents at the Bellway development. They were keen to share how nice the town is and what fun can be had, living here in Oakham. We hope the recipients of our cards enjoy them.”

Neelam Shah, Bellway’s sales adviser at Barleywoods, visited the school to meet the budding six and seven-year-old artists and to see their work.
