Harington School in Oakham rated outstanding by Ofsted
Students are continuing to receive an outstanding level of post-16 education.
Harington School in Oakham has retained the top rating following a short inspection by Ofsted.
The sixth form college currently has 328 students and offers 18 different subjects - the most popular being maths, psychology and history.
Ofsted inspectors Nikki Brady and Alison Loxton were impressed by the school’s exam results and its commitment to offering extracurricular opportunities.
They said: “Leaders are aspirational for students and they set exceptionally high standards. Consequently learners work very hard. Their behaviour, attendance and punctuality are excellent. Learners are respectful, highly motivated and consistently work hard to achieve their goals.”
The inspectors were also impressed by the range of school trips and its participation in schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Young Enterprise, DocSoc and GreenPower.
Head of school Oliver Teasel said: “I am proud of everyone at Harington who contributes to its success. Our staff provide incredible learning experiences, students are “respectful, highly motivated and consistently work hard to achieve their goals.
“Harington is a really special school and does a fantastic job at preparing students for their next steps.”
One student said: “Harington is shaping who I am and who I want to be.”
The inspection took place in March following an outstanding rating in January 2017.
