The owner of a sushi restaurant has opened a town’s first bubble tea and poke bowl shop.
The owner of GA Sushi in Oakham, KC Lee, decided to expand the business by launching bubble tea and it was such a success, the owner decided to open GA Bubble Tea at Paxtons Court, Newark.
The shop’s ultimate goal is to become a trendy social media spot in the town where people want to visit and have their photos taken.
It serves a variety of bubble teas from milk teas to fruit teas also including coffee, tea and juice in its menu.
One of the shop’s most popular drinks is the brown sugar milk tea with tapioca, which did not disappoint as it was flavourful, fresh and the perfect size of a drink to cheer up anyone’s day.
The shop is currently a work in progress as it opened doors, but owners and staff are exploring the best ways to engage and invite the community in, through its meals and drinks.
Team member at the Newark shop, Sian Wilburn said: “We have had a lot of customers coming in and saying ‘Oh my gosh, I can't believe there is a bubble tea shop in Newark’.
“The theory is that it is quick, easy and fresh for both customers and staff. That is how the owner and his wife envisioned the shop.”
The business is open Monday to Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm.
