Uppingham Explore Project showcases town’s heritage

Tourists and locals will be able to learn more about a town’s history and heritage during a four-week project.

The Uppingham Explore Project kicks off on Friday (February 28) with an opportunity for visitors to take a self-guided tour of the town.

The Uppingham Explore Project has been organised by Uppingham Town Council with the support of government funding.

Assistant town clerk Cynthia Ondeng said: “Uppingham is such a quaint market town. The architecture is amazing and there is so much to see. We hope this project will bring lots of people into the town to support the shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs.”

The project will run across four Fridays - February 28 and March 7, 21 and 28. On each day Uppingham mayor David Ainslie and town clerk Adam Lowe will be on hand to welcome visitors and hand out goodie bags before they embark on a self-guided tour.

People will be able to take in the sights along the town’s heritage trail and join a tour of Uppingham School led by its archivist.
