Market Overton Cricket Club win the Leicestershire Women's Indoor Performance League
Market Overton Cricket Club are celebrating an early title triumph.
Although the new outdoor season doesn't start until later this month, the Rutland club's ladies' team have already sampled success.
They have won the Leicestershire Women's Indoor Performance League after an impressive campaign.
They finished in second spot last season to Kibworth in the competition which is played every winter for the best teams in Leicestershire and Rutland.
But the roles were reversed this time around with Marko taking top spot ahead of last year's winners.
They recorded 12 wins from their 15 games in a competition which is played in a tension net set-up just like the international level of this format.
Victory over Kibworth on the final night of the competition confirmed Marko as league winners and provides the perfect boost ahead of the summer season.
Their campaign in Division Two South of the the East Midlands Women's League starts on Sunday, April 28, with an away match at Houghton and Thurnby.
Marko finished in second spot last season with only champions Kibworth being promoted to Division One.
The Rutland club will again by fielding two senior sides on a Saturday in the Leicestershire League.
The first team's Division Six East season starts on Saturday, April 20, with an away match at Lutterworth 3rds.
The second team will again be competing in Division Nine East and their campaign gets underway next month with a home match against Countesthorpe 4ths.
The Sunday side have returned to the Rutland League for this season and they begin in Division Four East with a home match against United Sports on Sunday, April 21.
Marko also have a ladies side in the East Midlands Super Eights League and will be running a plethora of teams at various age groups throughout their vibrant junior set-up.
