Helen Duncan is the new president of Rutland Running and Triathlon Club after the retirement of Paul Rogerson
A new president has taken the helm at Rutland Running and Triathlon Club.
Paul Rogerson will be retiring after playing a key role from the club's humble beginnings to its present status.
He leaves it in fine fettle for incoming president Helen Duncan who is the holder of many club records.
In his farewell speech at the club's annual meeting, Paul said: "I must admit that it has taken me a few days to get over the overwhelming kindness shown to me.
"I will treasure the 'Book of Memories' that has been created for me for the rest of my days, and yes the odd tear was shed reading the wonderful comments from some of the contributors, which was so kind.
"I'll just reiterate that it was an honour and a pleasure to be club president for so many years and grow the club from its humble beginnings to what it has now become.
"Passing the presidency over to Helen will I believe help the club to thrive and grow into a great future.
"Thank you all for your support over the years and I wish you all success with both your sporting and life ambitions."
Dave Summers was the stand-out performer for the club at the recent Rutland Spring half-marathon.
Summer earned first place in his age group after completing the course in a brilliant time of 1hr 46mins.
Other great performances in the extremely blustery conditions included Linzy Wolloff (1:47), Erica Appleton (2:01), Steve Law (2:08) and Steve Munro (2:09).
Club member Scott Griffin has completed an incredibly courageous feat to raise money for the Dyspraxia Foundation.
Scott was running 12 ultra marathons in 12 days and, although a hamstring issue saw him having to reduce the distances slightly over the final few days, he was successful in his magnificent mission.
