Rutland Running and Triathlon Club are looking for any past, present or future members to join their ranks
Rutland Running and Triathlon Club are looking for any past, present or future members to join their ranks.
The club caters for all levels with a wide variety of sessions.
Its activities are not just limited to running as there are also hikes and cycle rides as well as many social events.
Current president Helen Duncan is the perfect and inspirational example of what the club can do.
She explained: "I joined the club in 2009 as a total beginner to running.
"I was at the age of 33 and I needed to lose some weight and thought why not give it a go.
"As a mother of two young girls, it was also a great opportunity to have a bit of me time out of the home and work setting.
"From the very first beginners session and, still 16 years later, I have always felt welcome and supported by others in the club, both with physical and emotional support.
"Back in 2009, the thought of running 5k felt like an impossible goal, I never dreamt I would go on to run marathons and beyond.
"I have met wonderful people and made some lifelong friends through the club and, with their encouragement, have even completed four triathlons.
"Those who know me will know that swimming is not my strength and there were tears along the way but club members took time to take me open water swimming and get me where I needed to be to get around a triathlon, even making it to half ironman distance - just the once!"
