Rutland League round-up
A fine all-round performance from Ryan Gilmour helped guide Burghley Park to a derby victory in the Rutland League on Sunday.
They defeated Barnack by five runs with Gilmour playing a crucial role in the win which kept Burghley at the helm of the top flight table.
Park posted 238-6 from their 45 overs with opener Gilmour hitting 13 boundaries in his 95 while Jim McIntosh made 43 and Craig Burton was unbeaten on 34 at the close for the league leaders.
Gilmour then took three wickets in the Barnack reply as their hosts fell just short in the run chase.
Zaheer Abbas top-scored for Barnack with 47 while Muhammad Raheel was unbeaten on 34 at the close of their innings on 233-9.
William Portlock also picked up three wickets for Burghley who have a 21-point lead at the top from second-placed Newborough.
Ufford Park picked up their second win of the season after a 32-run away win at Oakham.
Opener Matt Smith scored 29 while Sudheer Jafeer was unbeaten on 48 at the close of the Ufford innings as the visitors were dismissed for 193.
Will Begy took 4-18 for Oakham and then made 48 as the Rutlanders were bowled out for 161 despite an unbeaten half-century from Sam Welford.
Sufyan Mazhar led the Ufford attack with 4-29 while Sandeep Dahiya claimed 3-24.
Sam Rees was in inspired form with the ball as Uppingham Town defeated East Carlton by nine wickets in Division One.
Rees returned 4-6 from a fantastic 5.2 over spell which also featured three maidens as East Carlton were bowled out for 98.
Uppingham needed just 12 overs to wrap up the win as Charlie Cox cracked 13 boundaries in his 61 not out off just 31 balls.
Stamford were sunk by 86 runs in their home match with Northampton Saints in Division Three.
The visitors made 212-7 after batting first with Jacob Hewitt and Harrison Field both taking two wickets each for Stamford.
Aidan Staunton top-scored with 31 in the Stamford reply as the hosts were bowled out for 126 with Calum Du Plessis picking up 3-5 for the Saints.
Ufford Park 2nds were bowled out for 74 in their six-wicket loss to Hampton in Division Four East.
Uffington 2nds were nine-wicket winners at Nassington in Division Four West after dismissing their hosts for 114.
Dan Anslow top-scored with 46 for Nassington while Finn Bray bagged 5-22 for the villagers with Ted Genever claiming 3-19.
Dean Cornish spearheaded the Uffington reply with 63 not out while Felix Cunningham contributed 24 in an opening stand of 68.
