Ketton Bowls Club stages its finals
Sheila Brown claimed two titles when Ketton Bowls Club staged its finals at the weekend.
She will now represent the club in next season's Northants Women's Bowling Federation's champion of champions women's singles competition.
She beat the current county champion Elaine Upton 21-19 to claim the club title and also joined husband Steve to win the two-bowl club pairs by beating John and Shirley Suffling in the final 18-12 over 18 ends. John beat Steve in the men’s singles 21-12.
Ketton is one of four clubs from the Stamford and District League - the others are Blackstones, Langtoft and Stamford Town - who will feature in the English Bowling Federation’s men's and women’s individual championships at Skegness from August 19-24.
Competing four women's events, Ketton kick off local interest on the opening Monday with Carol Warters, Shirley Suffling and Helen Tilley (substituting for Lynn Hulme who has sustained a broken bone in her foot) in the three-bowl triples.
