Fans say new Manchester United stadium looks like Skegness Butlins landmark

Designs for Manchester United’s proposed new stadium were revealed this morning - and the public were quick to liken it to one popular Lincolnshire landmark.

The Red Devils have revealed plans to move away from Old Trafford and relocate to a new 100,000 all-seater stadium.

However, designs for the new stadium have scored something of an own goal on social media with many suggesting it looks like the Skyline Pavilion at Skegness’ world-renowned Butlin’s resort.

Indeed, at a glance the new United stadium does appear to take inspiration from this iconic site on the east coast.

“I see Man United have taken inspiration from Butlin’s Skegness for their new stadium,” quipped Theo Griffiths.

Liam Brooks called it the ‘Butlin’s of the North’.

“I can’t get past the new Old Trafford looking like the Skyline Pavilion in @Butlins,” added Iain M while Josh joked “Manchester Butlins United.”

Others were not keen on the look.

“What in the name of Butlin’s Skegness is this?” asked Dan.

Jake asked: “Did Manchester United rip-off Butlin’s or Mcarthur Glen?”
