Lincolnshire Police share drone and thermal images of success in apprehending offender

Police have shared footage of drone work which helped apprehend a drug driver after a daring pursuit.

Lincolnshire Police successfully captured May Woodward, 20, following a reckless incident near Skegness.

Woodward, of Sea Lane, Huttoft, was spotted driving her black Ford Fiesta recklessly in the early hours of March 30, 23, near Skegness.

Thermal Imaging has been shared of the search.

Officers attempted to pull Woodward over after she pulled out in front of them at Gunby Roundabout.

However, instead of stopping, Woodward accelerated away, prompting a pursuit.

Despite her attempts to evade capture, a second officer, equipped with a drone, located her abandoned vehicle hidden behind a hedge.

Utilising thermal imaging, the officer detected a heat source in a nearby ditch, leading to the discovery of Woodward hiding in the water-filled ditch.

Woodward was subsequently arrested and charged with failing to stop, driving over the limit for cannabis and cocaine, and driving without insurance.

She pleaded guilty to the charges and appeared before Lincoln Magistrates Court on February 2, where she was disqualified from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay costs of £199.

A statement from the force said: "Diligent police work and having the right officers with the right equipment patrolling our communities means a drug driver who was driving without insurance has been disqualified.”
