Sleaford pub landlord celebrating after winning second car in four years
A pub landlord has been served a double - after winning a second car in four years.
Sixty-two-year-old Stephen McHugh has been handed the keys to a BMW X1 M Sport worth £38,000 in a BOTB Instant Wins Competition.
Just four years earlier he drove off in a £163,000 Bentley Continental GT W12 as well as pocketing £20,000 in cash in the firm’s Dream Car Competition.
“I’m in disbelief that I have won again,” the self-confessed petrolhead said.
“I’m not sure if I believe in luck or not. I’m just an optimist who plays for a bit of fun and thinks I’ve got as good a chance as anybody else.”
For Stephen, from Sleaford, both big wins came after giving a late decision to play.
“I entered this competition at the last minute, like when I won the Bentley,” he said.
“It took me about 20 minutes to decide whether to enter or not, and it was about 10 minutes to midnight when I hit the buy button. It certainly proved to be worth it!
“When it came through I had won, I spent five minutes staring at the screen.”
It has come at the perfect time for the father-of-two, who has experienced a tough few years with various health issues.
“I’ve had an interesting time of things since I won the Bentley, but I’m feeling amazing now health wise, and this latest win has brought me some joy,” he continued.
After initially receiving an email notification telling him what he had won, Stephen later spoke with BOTB presenter Christian Williams via a video call, who congratulated him on his latest win.
“It was so nice to be able to speak to previous winner Stephen once again,” Christian said.
“To win once is some achievement, but to win twice is amazing.
“After a tough few years, we couldn’t be happier for him, and it sounds like he is looking forward to getting his hands on his beautiful BMW.”
Leading car competitions company BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize.
It also offers people the chance to win a holiday, cash, tech, cars and more in its Instant Wins Competition.
Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, BOTB has given away £70m-worth of cars so far.
