“A pleasure and an honour!” Incoming executive head of Spalding Grammar and Spalding High Schools looking forward to new role

The incoming executive head of two town schools has described taking up the role as a ‘pleasure and an honour’.

Spalding High School headmistress Michele Anderson will take up the new position, which also sees her overseeing Spalding Grammar School, from September.

Mrs Anderson was approached to take on the joint headship after it was announced Grammar School head Steven Wilkinson would be leaving later this month.

“My working relationship with Mr Wilkinson and many of the staff at Spalding Grammar contributed significantly to why I agreed to the SGS’ Trust request,” Mrs Anderson said.

“I anticipate my time being shared between the two schools and look forward to supporting both in their post Ofsted action plans.

“It will be both a pleasure and an honour to lead two such prestigious schools.”

Mrs Anderson also paid tribute to the outgoing Grammar head, who is taking up a new role in Yorkshire following nine years in Spalding.

“Mr Wilkinson and I have worked closely together for many years as heads of the town’s two grammar schools and as part of a wider family of schools across Lincolnshire,” she said.

“Headship is a significant undertaking and an important office of public service.

“I am pleased to have shared this important role with Mr Wilkinson and I will miss his sense of humour and clarity of perspective on the educational issues that we face in the profession.

“He has been a great support over the years and hope that he feels the same.”
