A16 now reopen between Surfleet and Pinchbeck after Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire County Council highways complete work at crash scene




Highways chiefs have said that the A16 is now re-open to traffic, after a near-24-hour closure.

A stretch of the busy road between Pinchbeck and Surfleet was shut for almost a day after a series multi-vehicle crash at about 12.30pm yesterday.

Two people, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, died as a result of their injuries and two more people suffered serious injuries.

Lincolnshire Police had been conducting investigations at the scene, while a team from Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department was on hand to clear up the site.

Motorists had experienced long queues this morning, with drivers being diverted through Surfleet and Pinchbeck.

A highways spokesman said the road officially re-opened at 11.52am.
