St Nicolas Players to perform fast-paced comedy Holiday Snap at the South Holland Centre in Spalding

A fast-paced comedy involving a case of mistaken identity is being brought to audiences by an amateur theatre group.

St Nicolas Players will be performing Holiday Snap written by Michael Pertwee and John Chapman at the South Holland Centre in Spalding — and performances begin today (Wednesday October 30).

Director Glen Barker said: “This play has been in our sights since we first read the script well over a year ago.

“We knew from the very first auditions that we had found a cast who loved the play as much as we did and since the very first table read through have worked so hard in bringing all the characters to life.

“We love hearing our audiences laugh and see them leaving the theatre happy and having been on a journey with us.

“We know with Holiday Snap we have found a real treasure. A touch of nostalgia mixed with some very fast paced comedy.

“Set in a Portuguese timeshare villa, the venue has been double booked by two couples, without the company representative, myopic tippler commander 'Chitto’ Chittenden knowing.

When Mary and Henry arrive shortly after Eve and Leslie, Chitto remains unaware that there is more than one couple on the scene.

Confusion is compounded when the couples mistake each other for the servants and their holiday unfolds with many surprises, some unfortunate events and a lot of laughs.

Assistant director David Whipps said: “Community theatre is very important to us, not only bringing theatre to the people in Spalding, but providing opportunities for people who want to get involved, whether that is backstage, onstage, in the tech box, or part of the production crew.

“The only way we can keep doing this is through the support of the public who time and time again come out to support us and the South Holland Centre.

The show runs from today (October 30) until November 2.
