Police appeal to find woman who allows dogs to worry swans at Surfleet
Police are appealing for information after receiving reports of dogs chasing swans.
Lincolnshire Police Rural Crime Action Team received two reports of a woman allowing her four dogs to worry the swans on the banks of the River Glen in Surfleet.
This is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Officers say they have pictures of the woman - which they will publish unless she comes forward.
A force statement said: “We are investigating a couple of incidents where a lady has been walking her dogs along the path on the south bank of the River Glen between the village and the Slipway on Park Lane where it is believed she parks her vehicle.
“The lady in question has allowed her dogs to worry the swans in the field.
“It is very clear that this owner has little or no control over her dogs.
“The lady is described as being of large build, dark or black long hair in a bun and aged late 40s or early 50s.
“We are asking for this person to contact us so that she can be spoken to about the incidents.
“We have good images and if this appeal fails we will look to publish those images.”
The first incident was reported on April 8 at 7.30pm with the second taking place on April 10 at the same time.
Police have descriptions of three of the four dogs involved. These are:
- dark tan, possible whippet lurcher.
- light tan with white underside, possible mixed Labrador lurcher
- black smaller with large floppy ears which could be a spaniel
