Plans go in for drone flying area in Crowland

Plans to create a drone flying area have been revealed by a glider club.

Members of Peterborough and Spalding Gliding Club have leased land around St Guthlacs Lodge, Spalding Road, Crowland, to create the flying area.

The club has applied to South Holland District Council for permission to install a plastic/shingle honey comb floor base, four wooden poles, rain canopy and base for small container.

The application states: “We are leasing the land from the land owner as a drone flying area. We have grassed the whole area. Erecting a small viewing area and positoning a storage container, does not alter the use of the land. This is just to build our business at this location.”
