Allison Homes bid to alter Moulton Chapel development

A developer’s bid to alter a controversial housing estate is set to be approved.

Allison Homes East has applied to South Holland District Council to replace some of the houses on the Chapel Gate development in Moulton Chapel with bungalows.

The site has been dogged with issues in the past with the entrance way labelled a ‘ski slope’ before a long battle that saw this changed along with the site levels.

Members of South Holland District Council are recommended to approve the changes at their meeting on Wednesday.

A report to the committee states: “The amended scheme is satisfactory in terms of dwelling mix and does not materially harm the character or appearance of the locality or amenity of nearby residents.

“It is acceptable on other planning grounds such as highway safety, etc, whilst confirming with the South East Lincolnshire Local Plan and the provisions of the National Planning Policy Framework when viewed as a whole.”

The council granted permission to build 86 homes on the site in March 2021. This included eight two bedroom homes, 35 three bedrooms, 38 four bedroom, five five bedrooms and three bungalows.

But this could change to seven two bedroom units, 43 three bedrooms, 35 four bedroom and one five bedroom along with 13 bungalows.

The report states: “For clarity, the overall number of plots remains at 86. There are no significant changes to the approved levels, road layouts, etc. The section 106 affordable housing units are also unaffected.

“The biggest change is the inclusion of ten single storey bungalows to replace houses, predominately along the western boundary of the development adjoining the existing property boundaries.”
