Blood test service is running as normal at Spalding area hospital says health chiefs

Health bosses say the blood test service is running as normal after concerns have been raised.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services Trust says the phlebotomy service provided at Johnson Community Hospital, which serves the Spalding area, is providing appointments for the majority of patients within a two week period.

Local patients have recently raised concerns about the time taken for blood test appointments to be available at the Pinchbeck site.

Nat McKee, Divisional Managing Director for Unplanned Care for Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, said: “Phlebotomy services provided by our teams remain available Monday to Friday at our community hospital sites in Spalding, Skegness and Gainsborough.

“The majority of patients in need of an appointment are seen within two weeks, which is in line with the standard for routine requests, and a number of protected appointments are also available each day for those requiring an urgent blood test within 48 hours.

“The urgency of each request is determined by the clinician who has referred the patient for the test. Patients can continue to book a convenient appointment via our online booking system and by telephone.”
