Owner of Spalding store praises Lincolnshire Police following attempted break-in
A boutique shop’s owners were thankful for Ring Doorbell footage and the quick actions of police after a man was arrested following an attempted break-in.
Sisters Rachel Wilding and Claire Burden, who run Coocumber, were alerted by their landlord when the front door window of their Victoria Street store in Spalding was smashed last night (Thursday, June 5).
Businesswoman Rachel Wilding has praised the quick actions of Lincolnshire Police who caught a suspect within 45 minutes of a 9.20pm report that glass was being broken.
Rachel said: “Around 9.15pm last night my landlord called me as the people in the Airbnb had a notification that someone was in the doorway.
“This person was looking through the window and the door of the shop and then managed to kick the glass on the door.
“It was just under the lock and my landlord acted quickly and called the police straight away.”
Rachel feels it ‘could have been a lot worse’ and has praised the police in arresting a suspect.
She said: “The police were here straight away and the sirens were going.
“In 45 minutes they had come back to us to say they had apprehended them.
“I am so thankful to the police for being so efficient and supportive - and to the Ring doorbell footage so the person could be apprehended.”
Nothing was taken from the store and the door has now been boarded up.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were deployed and a 35-year-old man was arrested a short while later on suspicion of attempted burglary with intent to steal.
“He remains in police custody and will be questioned in due course.
The boutique sells clothing, jewellery, candles, scarves and gifts and is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
