Spalding Boxing Academy is appealing for help in finding a new home
A popular boxing club is appealing for help in finding a knock-out new home.
Spalding Boxing Academy is looking for a new unit to set-up a gym in after being served notice to leave its previous home.
The academy has made a huge difference to the lives of adults and youngsters since it was formed two years ago.
Over the last two years it has grown to have up to 100 members with its weekly sessions booked out.
The club is now hoping to run a number of outdoor sessions during the summer months while it finds a new home.
One of the coaches Tom Smith has put out an appeal to help find the club a new home.
He said: “If anyone has a unit they will be helping the community. Our 100 members have been looking forward to getting back into gym.
“We have seen a lot of office spaces but these would need to be changed for boxing and a lot of places are on business parks which are only open during the day. We need accomodation that we can use during the evenings along with a car park and toilets. We would be grateful for any help.”
The club was founded two years ago by head coach Stuart Possnett.
Since then its weekly adult, children and ladies sessions have become very popular. During this time it has made a big difference to a lot of its younger members.
Mr Smith said: “The feedback we have received from parents is that they have seen behaviour and attitude changes in children and teenagers. They are more focussed at school.
“We have multiple children and teenagers who have been going out over lockdown to do five to six mile runs or bike rides. Boxing changes their whole attitude and way of living.
“A lot of people have lost masses amount of weight. We have had teenagers come to us, who have never exercised but lose a couple of stone over the years.
“The boxing club is like a family community.”
The club is hoping to run a number of outdoor sessions for a limited number of people.
