Busy A16 access road for Pinchbeck and Spalding due to reopen as Lincolnshire County Council roundabout project continues
A busy A16 access road will finally reopen to traffic tomorrow (Thursday), according to highways bosses.
The B1180 has been shut between the West Marsh Road and Greencell roundabouts since July 15 — prompting heavier-than-normal traffic through Pinchbeck and around the Wardentree Lane industrial estate.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council said the full closure will end ‘in the late afternoon’ tomorrow (September 5).
This bit of the project has involved utility works, as well as building additional entry and exit lanes onto the new roundabout. A new road surface has been laid, and new signs and street lights have been put in.
The full upgrade of the roundabout, however, will end next spring.
The official diversion has seen motorists diverted off the A16 through Surfleet and Pinchbeck — with lorries also reported in greater numbers along West Elloe Avenue in Spalding in the past eight weeks.
The project was one part of the work on the Greencell and Springfields/McDonalds A16 roundabouts in a bid to improve traffic flows around Spalding.
