Gas works shut Pinchbeck Road in Spalding
A main route into Spalding town centre is shut as part of the next phase of a major gas works project.
Cadent is carrying out a major upgrade of its network of about 1km of gas pipes in Spalding — and completed the first phase in September.
From today, the project requires the closure of Pinchbeck Road, with temporary lights in place and traffic diverted along West Elloe Avenue.
This set of works is due to last until the end of next week — with the entrance to Park Road also shut.
Motorists have already experienced long queues this morning.
One told this newspaper that they found it ‘ludicrous’ that the closure was not adequately sign posted or that the temporary lights were not synced with the traffic lights at the junction of Woolram Wygate and Pinchbeck Road.
Cadent previously said the pipes are ‘decades old’ and that it is it is ‘essential that we replace them to futureproof our network and minimise the amount of repair work that we have to do in the area over the coming years’.
