Crowland councillor calls for members to be ‘well in the loop’ over changes to South Holland District Council waste collections
Calls have been made to brief councillors on the future of the area’s waste collections.
South Holland District Council is putting together several different cost options after a recent consultation resulted in a ‘minor victory’ for bags over the introduction of wheelie bins.
The authority conducted the survey - which received a total of 8,576 responses with 49% in favour of wheelie bins while 51% wanted to retain the bags - ahead of the introduction of food caddies in 2026.
A report on the future of the waste collections is due to go before cabinet in December and then to full council at the end of January - but senior councillor Bryan Alcock feels that members should be receiving an earlier briefing.
The Crowland ward member questioned at the last Performance Monitoring Panel meeting when the report was due to come to members.
Coun Alcock, who is the panel chairman, said: “Members need updating on where we are going. We are trying to examine several different business plans, I think members need to be well in the loop on that.”
